Since we are in unconventional disciplines here, it is not easy to describe what the Wellness Centre is. Perhaps it is worth noting what the Centre is not. It is not a weight loss center for people with eating disorders. Nor is it a rehabilitation facility - no “lock-up” for people with substance abuse issues. However, it is a facility that can treat people with those particular types of disorders, as well as a host of other conditions, including life-threatening conditions such as terminal cancer.
The Wellness Centre is located within the grounds of Coconuts Beach Club Resort and Spa, a boutique resort with 26 accommodation units in what was known as Western Samoa, and is now simply Samoa. The resort is located in the midst of a traditional Samoan village, about 30 minutes away from the main town of Apia, on approximately 8 acres of land that is generally regarded in local lore as a “magical” place, a place with spiritual significance – a fitting location for a Wellness Centre.
In order to provide the level of personal care that is required, Dr. Hinds will only treat a maximum of three people at any one time, which may include one patient and their spouse or significant other. The treatment conditions:
- 10 day or 20 day program, depending upon the medical condition being treated.
- The treatments are intensive, and can last as long as 10 or 14 hours a day, 7 days a week for the duration of the program. Primarily, treatments will take place in the patients own guest room and the patient will be able to enjoy most of the amenities of the Resort.
If you are interested in discussing your health issues with Dr. Merita Hinds, please complete the Screening Questionnaire so that Dr. Hinds can evaluate your condition and make an initial decision as to whether or not she believes she can be of any help to you.
If you are accepted into the program, you will then receive further information as to the treatments that you can expect, including the cost to participate. You should know that the cost is all-inclusive, covering the accommodation and all food and beverages and all treatments.
Lastly, I know only too well the feeling of hopelessness that comes over you when a loved one has serious medical issues and your conventional doctor says that they are sorry, but there is nothing more that they can do. The sense of sadness, loss and fear is overwhelming. I am here to tell you that you do not have to accept their prognosis for the future - I simply don’t agree.
Hopelessness is, of course, the absence of hope. Without hope the human spirit goes into a downward spiral that is totally debilitating. I am here to tell you that there is hope for your condition – so please do not be depressed. Please feel free to contact Doctor Hinds or me with any questions or comments.
